Fun Fact: The Great Siege Tunnels in the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar, also known as the Upper Galleries, are a series of tunnels inside the northern end of the Rock of Gibraltar. One of Gibraltar’s greatest attractions, they were carved out by the merchant marines in order to defend Gibraltar during one of the many sieges, this one aptly called the Great Siege of 1779 to 1783.
